Program Note:
This piece is intended to resemble a Baroque suite made up of a variety of different musical forms spanning several time periods. While the hope is that each movement still retains the general character of each of these traditional genres, the melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic elements of this piece firmly root it in a modernist style. This is by no means an innovative concept for a piece, but I nonetheless hope that you will enjoy my take on each of these genres and how genres that may be considered “antiques” can still interact with the music of today in a way that is, at its core, fun.
Performance Note: The "Badinerie", "Elegy", and "Mazurka" can be extracted and performed as separate, standalone pieces if the performer wishes.
